FAQ

What is Cosmetic Tattooing/Micropigmentation/Semi-Permanent Makeup?
Cosmetic Tattooing/Micropigmentation/Semi-Permanent Makeup, is the process of implanting colour pigment beneath the surface of the skin by means of a tiny, sterile, disposable needle to produce the appearance of cosmetic makeup. The purpose of cosmetic tattooing is to enhance your features.

Does Cosmetic Tattooing hurt?
A highly-effective, topical anesthetic cream is used for numbing before and during your procedure. Pain threshold levels vary from person to person and every effort is made to ensure you remain comfortable for the entirety of the procedure.

What are the pigments made of?
The colour pigments come in a variety of colours specially formulated with iron oxide, an ingredient safe for the skin.

How long does Semi-Permanent Makeup last?
The treatment is considered semi-permanent, therefore will fade over time and may need a touch-up every 1-3 years. Frequency of touch- ups depend on a number of factors including, lifestyle (sun exposure), iron deficiency ( your body absorbs iron- oxide as a supplement), the pigment colour used (lighter colours fade quicker), and if chemical peels come into contact with the treated areas. The tattooed hair strokes tend to have a more crisp look once healed on dry skin compared to more blurry strokes on oily skin.
Touch-ups are normal for cosmetic tattoo procedures, with each new procedure requiring 2 visits. The initial procedure followed by a touch-up procedure 4-6 weeks later. Previously tattooed eyebrows may require one or two additional appointments.

How many treatments are needed?
Two treatments are needed, at least 4 weeks apart. With most procedures, the colour looks dramatically lighter after the first week. At the second treatment, we will assess the colour retention and make the necessary adjustments. Everyone heals differently and at different rates. If your cosmetic tattoo does not heal perfectly after the first session, do not worry! Adjustments will be made at your touch-up appointment.

How will I look immediately after? What is the healing process?
Your semi-permanent makeup will appear darker and larger than expected for the first few days. This will gradually lighten during the healing process.
Can I get tattooed if I am pregnant or nursing?

As a precaution, I will not perform cosmetic tattooing on pregnant or nursing women.

Note: To help prevent excessive bleeding, please refrain from consuming pain relievers, fish oils, and blood thinners unless directed by your physician. Do NOT consume alcoholic beverages or caffeine the day of your procedure.

What is a Lash Lift and Tint?
It’s a lifting technique designed to give you longer looking lashes without the need for lash extensions. It will look as if you used a really good eyelash curler, only this lift lasts for 6 to 8 weeks!

How do I prep for the treatment?
PLEASE ARRIVE TO YOUR APPOINTMENT COMPLETELY FREE OF EYE MAKEUP! If you wear contact lenses, they must be removed.

How long does a Lash Lift and Tint last?
Your lashes will slowly relax back to their original state over the course of 6-8 weeks.

How should I care for my lashes after my Lash Lift and Tint?
Please no mascara, hot yoga or swimming for the first 24 hours. No waterproof mascara as they dry out your natural lashes and cause breakage if not removed correctly. Lastly, condition your lashes with coconut oil at night after thoroughly removing your eye makeup using an oil free makeup remover.

Is there any maintenance?
None at all!

Can I still wear mascara?
Of course! You will just achieve a more dramatic effect when mascara is applied to your curled lashes.

I’ve recently had lasik surgery, can I have this done?
Yes, but you will have to wait at least 6 months. As always, when in doubt, please consult with your physician.
